October 29, 2018 - Recap of the ATN Fall 2018 Meeting
The ATN fall meeting was held October 17-18, 2018 in Washington, DC at the Washington Hilton. The ATN meets biannually so that researchers can network and collaborate with each other on adolescent HIV prevention and care.
“I was really excited about this meeting,” Isa Fernandez, PhD, said. Fernandez is the ATN Executive Committee Chair and professor of public health at Nova Southeastern University. “We listened to the feedback and we made changes in the program’s structure so that people who attended would see value. It was practical and useful.”
The fall meeting focused on the theme of recruitment and retention. The ATN also incorporated new features during the event to boost interactivity and provide a forum for sharing ideas and successful approaches, including a poster session, a moderated panel on recruitment and retention, a youth panel with a question and answer session, and two opportunities to participate in roundtable discussions.
“I think that the poster sessions, which made their debut in this particular meeting, was a fabulous way to actually foster engagement and collaboration,” Fernandez said.
